Bicycle journey through Uganda
First African Bicycle Information Organisation Tour
True to the motto “Ride a bicycle! Stop climate change!” a team of FABIO went on a two weeks bicycle riding tour through Uganda. The team consists of three people: two internees from Germany and the professional Ugandan bike rider Asumani Ghesa. During their journey they tried to get in contact with many people as possible to spread their messages. The overall topic of the journey was climate change which was divided into three sub-themes:
promoting bike-riding, the education about climate change and the data collection. Firstly the team wanted to show how riding a bicycle can give more possibilities to manage the people’s life and secondly they tried to educate people about climate change issues and taught them about how to adapt with their situation. While presenting the consequences of climate change the team gave ideas for improvement. One side-effect of that journey was to show that even long distances are possible to manage by a local bicycle.
